Student-Led CareerCouncil

Denver Public Schools CareerConnect is launching a new program called the CareerCouncil that is specifically targeted to student leaders at different schools throughout the district.

The CareerCouncil will develop an atmosphere of students helping students by introducing Peer-to-Peer Mentoring to the district.

Students will commit time during lunch and after school at least once a week. Council members will need to build strong relationships within the student body. Mentors will focus on the five Traits of a Young Professional to guide students in becoming college & career ready:

  • Professionalism
  • Communication
  • Perseverance
  • Self Direction
  • Collaboration

Students will need to gather information from other students on what they would like to see happen to the program in the future. Provided surveys and questionnaires for mentee students will help complete this task. We will use this information to provide student voice to CareerConnect Administration.

Finally, we will host activities to encourage student culture, to include things like kickball, guest speakers, etc. Students will work with Pathways Directors to get whatever resources they may need for this.

Get started by applying today!

Talk to the CareerConnect Pathway Director at your school if you have questions.
